Week 2 - Project
This week’s assignment is Chapter 3 and 4 of the book. Through Chapter 2, you will have defined tasks and phases, and linked them together. Note that the book will ask you to open a project to start the chapter. This is just the end point from the last chapter.
Chapter 3 – Setting Up Resources
In your project plan, please substitute your name for the first entry – Garrett R. Vargas. Going forward, you will be Garrett for the remainder of the lessons.
Chapter 4 – Assigning Resources to Tasks
The key concept in this chapter is effort-driven scheduling. That is the way Project calculates work. Up to this point, defining a ask duration does equate to work. It is elapsed time. Assigning resources to the task determines the work, or amount of hours it will take to complete the task. Any additional changes to the task or assignment will either increase total work or change the duration of the task. Note the “smart tag” that pops up when as additional resources are assigned to a task.
